The First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University
Founded in 1883 as Suzhou Boxi Hospital, The First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University is one of China’s earliest Western medicine hospitals and a leading Grade III Level A tertiary comprehensive hospital in Jiangsu Province. It officially adopted its current name in 2000, integrating medical care, education, research and rehabilitation.
With two campuses, the hospital operates over 3,000 inpatient beds and employs more than 5,000 staff, including 427 senior and 816 associate senior experts. It houses 45 clinical and technical departments, with 8 national key clinical specialties—Hematology, Orthopedics, Cardiac Surgery, Respiratory Medicine, Neurosurgery, Clinical Pharmacy, Nursing, and Thrombosis & Hemostasis.
Renowned for excellence in hematological disorders, orthopedic surgery, and critical care, it is a national clinical research center for hematological diseases. The hospital pioneers multidisciplinary treatment (MDT) and advanced technologies like stem cell transplantation and minimally invasive surgery, delivering top-tier care for complex and severe conditions in the east China.
