China-Japan Friendship Hospital
Established in 1984 as a bilateral initiative between the Chinese and Japanese governments, China-Japan Friendship Hospital (CJFH) is a large tertiary Grade-A hospital under the National Health Commission, affiliated with Peking Union Medical College. Located in Chaoyang District, Beijing, it operates approximately 1,600 beds with a staff exceeding 3,000, including numerous nationally distinguished specialists. The hospital's clinical identity rests on two nationally preeminent programs: respiratory medicine and integrative medicine. Its Department of Pulmonology and Critical Care Medicine serves as the National Clinical Research Center for Respiratory Diseases, consistently ranked first in China for lung cancer, COPD, asthma, and interventional pulmonology, and leads the nation in lung transplant volume. The Department of Pain Medicine is a national key discipline, pioneering minimally invasive pain interventions. CJFH is also renowned for its Traditional Chinese Medicine integration, offering evidence-based combined Western-TCM therapies across dermatology, gastroenterology, and orthopedics. Additional strengths include clinical pharmacy, rehabilitation medicine, and cardiovascular care. As a national hub for clinical research and medical education, CJFH trains postgraduate students and international fellows, upholding its founding mission of Sino-Japanese medical cooperation.
