The First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University
The First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University was founded in 1937 with support from patriotic overseas Chinese leader Aw Boon Haw. Over nearly nine decades, it has grown into one of the largest tertiary-A general hospitals in southeastern China. Located in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, the hospital operates over 4,500 beds and employs approximately 6,000 medical professionals, serving millions of outpatient and emergency visits annually.
The hospital is distinguished by its outstanding clinical specialties. Vascular surgery ranks among the best in China, while neurosurgery, orthopedics, hematology, oncology, rehabilitation medicine, and medical ultrasonics are all nationally recognized key disciplines. Designated as a national regional medical center, the hospital also serves as the primary clinical teaching base for Fujian Medical University. Integrating medical care, education, and research, the hospital hosts multiple national key disciplines and provincial key laboratories, consistently driving clinical innovation and delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care across the region.
