Beijing Tongren Hospital
Beijing Tongren Hospital, affiliated with Capital Medical University, was founded in 1886 by the American Methodist Episcopal Church, making it one of China's oldest modern hospitals. Spanning 138 years, it has grown into a nationally renowned tertiary Grade-A comprehensive hospital operating two campuses (East and West) with approximately 3,600 beds and over 4,000 staff members, handling more than 4 million outpatient and emergency visits annually.
The hospital is best known for two nationally leading specialties: Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, both ranked first in China. Its Ophthalmology Center hosts the National Engineering Research Center for Ocular Diagnosis and Treatment, while its ENT department houses the National Clinical Research Center for Otolaryngological Diseases. Beyond these flagship disciplines, Tongren also maintains strong clinical programs in Allergy, Cardiology, and Orthopedics.As a designated National Medical Center and a key research institution under the Ministry of Education, the hospital integrates clinical excellence with teaching and scientific innovation, standing among China's most respected medical institutions.
