The First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University (FAHSU)
Established in 1910 as the Public Medical Hall Affiliated Hospital, FAHSU is one of China's earliest Western-style hospitals and today ranks among the nation's top comprehensive medical centers. Located in Guangzhou, it has grown into the largest affiliated hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, a leading Double First-Class institution.
With over 3,000 beds and more than 5,000 medical professionals, FAHSU handles over 5 million outpatient and emergency visits annually. It is a national high-level hospital directly under the National Health Commission.
Clinically, the hospital hosts 12 national key specialties. Nephrology, neurology, gastroenterology, cardiovascular surgery, and otolaryngology–head and neck surgery are its most distinguished areas—its nephrology program has ranked first in China for consecutive years. The hospital also excels in organ transplantation, intensive care, and emergency medicine, supported by multiple national key laboratories.
